Origin Story

Serena Siew graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in English and minor in Spanish. Her Shakespeare professor entered her paper in the William James Undergraduate Writing Competition. It received first place. She graduated from Southwestern Law School with a CALI Excellence Award in Writing. She worked at the Los Angeles Daily Journal before going on to practice immigration at various law firms based here and abroad.

“Her heart was always in the right place,” says one colleague. “And she actually does what she says.” While other firms advertise customer service, “Serena always delivers,” especially in “Hail Mary” situations. Despite the obvious humanitarian crisis, the adjective “humanitarian” has come to mean a “speculative” shot at best. “But this is where she shines,” says one client. Serena likes hard cases because she likes the challenge. In courtrooms, she has been called “a tiger.” As one colleague puts it, “Serena’s intense. She can be fierce. But in her devotion to immigrants, her aim is pure.”
